Services: Custom Framing - Matting

Definition - Source Wikipedia

Many people think that a mat is simply a cosmetic enhancement for a picture but it's first purpose is to prevent the print from touching the surface of the glass.

Some mats are not Acid Free. This means that acid in the mat itself will eventually bleed out and damage the print where it makes physical contact. This bleeding will continue to spread and invade the visible area. This damage is permanent.

We use acid free mat material for ALL our work!

We have a Wizard 9000 computerized mat cutting machine which allows us to do much more than would be possible than cutting by hand.
Irregular opennings, circles, ovals, and even special shapes are possible.

There are many colors and textures available to choose from.
A link to the mat color guide is provided below.

Also remember that mats can be multiple colors.
For thick objects such as medals or coins, two layers of mat can be separated by a piece of foamcore art material to create a Floating mat that is thick enough to prevent the objects from coming in contact with the glass.
